Police Administration of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has been operational since 1997 as an organizational unit of the Ministry of Interior of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In 2002, through restructuring of the Ministry, the Federation Police Administration acquired financial and operational independence. The Federation Police Administration is managed by the Director, who has one Deputy. The Federation Police Administration comprises nine organisational units: Cabinet of the Director, Sector for Police Support and Administration, Special Police Unit (SWAT), Unit for Protection of Dignitaries and Objects, Centre for Forensics and Support, Unit for Professional Standards, Operational Communication Centre and Department for Control of Production, Trade and Transport of Explosive Matters. The Federation Police Administration Headquarters are located in Sarajevo. It has staff of 723, out of those 507 police officers, 48 civil servants and 168 general service employees. Out of the total number of staff, there are 132 women, out of those 40 police officers, 25 civil servants and 67 employees. The Federation Police Administration adheres to the principles of openness and transparency. Accordingly, it launched its website www.fup.gov.ba in 2004, which is updated daily for ongoing activities, security reports, daily newsletter, contact information, etc. In the year 2002, the Federation Police Administration became a member of the Southeast Europe Police Chiefs Association (SEPCA) and it chaired the SEPCA Sub-Board on Organised Crime. Director of the Federation Police Administration took over the presidency of SEPCA in September 2009.
